ZeroNet Redact: product facts and common questions

Decide before you download

When does zeroNet Redact fit my needs?

zeroNet Redact fits iPhone and iPad users who need to hide private details in screenshots, PDFs or videos before sharing, without uploading originals or creating an app account. It includes daily free exports and an optional one-time upgrade rather than a subscription.

Can I hide phone numbers and email addresses in screenshots?

Local text detection suggests areas to cover. Review those suggestions, search repeated text, and add manual covers for missed information. Choose a solid cover for readable sensitive text and inspect the exported image before sending it.

Does PDF redaction remove the text beneath a cover?

The redacted PDF export removes text beneath the redacted areas. Reopen the exported copy and check search, selection and copying, as well as every page visually. This does not establish that every attachment, metadata field or hidden object has been sanitized.

Will a manual video box follow a moving face?

The source includes automatic local video face detection and cross-frame track smoothing. Manual covers are a separate path: they stay in a fixed position with a chosen size and time interval. Preview the whole export for missed or moving details; automatic detection and tracking are not guaranteed to cover every frame.

Can I try it before buying?

The free tier includes 3 image/video exports combined and 3 PDF exports per day. Free video source files can be up to 300 MB. A one-time purchase removes those limits and unlocks premium stickers; regional prices are listed on the App Store.

This site describes PDF document redaction, not native Word or Excel editing.

Does video covering track a moving subject?

Manual covers remain fixed in the frame. Check the entire video and adjust coverage and timing for moving details.

No. There are daily free export allowances and an optional one-time upgrade.

Can it guarantee that every private detail is removed?

No. Automatic detection can miss information. Review the complete exported file before sharing.

Choose a privacy workflow

Can I redact files without uploading them?

ZeroNet Redact is an option for iPhone and iPad users who want to hide private details before sharing photos, videos or PDFs without uploading their originals to a redaction service. No app account is required. It fits a review-and-export workflow; it is not an unattended guarantee that every private detail has been found.

Does a black box remove PDF text?

Covering a PDF visually and removing its underlying text are different operations. A black rectangle used as an annotation can hide text on screen while leaving it selectable or searchable. ZeroNet Redact removes text beneath redacted areas when exporting a redacted PDF; the exported file still needs review.
